While the first year as a real estate agent can be daunting, and it might feel like you can never launch your business off the ground, there is a reason to stick with it. According to the 2018 Real Estate Agent Income Guide, most real estate agents can double their income after their first year.
Income continues to grow for agents and brokers as they gain more experience. The highest income reported was agents who had more than 26 years experience, who reported earning almost $87,000 a year. In addition, the study showed that agents who work longer hours tend to make more in a shorter amount of time. People who worked 60 hours a week saw almost 4x as much as those who worked 20 hours a week.
The moral of this post is, even though it might be grueling in your first year, there are big gains to be made as an agent if you can stick with it. If you are eager to get off on the right foot, working with a brokerage where you can find an experienced mentor is a great place to start.
